My T.V. Screen - M. McKoy ©2005

He y’all.  You know I reckon television should represent everybody.  Here it go.  Woah!

Everybody gather round.  Don’t you give a damn what’s going down?
I’m not trying to preach, not trying to rule your mind. No!
Just making you aware what’s being left behind.
Multicultural is all a big disguise.
Point your remote control and open up your eyes.

Black, white, yellow, red, dark and light peachy colour green.
That’s what I see out on the street, a melting pot of everyone plus you and me, well.
Black, white, yellow, red, dark and light peachy colour green.
This is the world or so it seems, but it ain’t depicted on my T.V. screen.

Don’t say that it’s ok. Don’t tell me it’s all good.
‘Cause sure as hell you know I’ll be misunderstood – my friend well.
More times than not they use your flavour for their gain.
It’s wrong and it’s not fair; your vigour must remain.
It’s rarely witnessed, you landing on your feet, well.
It’s pretty much guaranteed, you won’t be living nowhere near Ramsay Street.
But chin up matey things are getting better all the time.
The small screen scene is changing.
One day they’ll expand their minds.

We’re so sorry you don’t shower, drink, nor do you wash your hair.
Viewers of our programs can’t relate to your look on the air.
Yes there is a presence but it’s just the essence.
That’s all we need to see.
But when we hype a stereotype ‘crash bang’ you’re on T.V.
